What is Reiki?
Reiki is a healing technique based on the principle that the therapist can channel energy into the patient by means of touch, to activate the natural healing processes of the patient’s body and restore physical and emotional well-being.
What happens during a treatment?
At your first appointment I will take a detailed medical history prior
to treatment and discuss your reasons for visiting.
Treatment is given by placing my hands either directly on your body,
or a short distance above in a set sequence of positions for several
minutes in each position. This is a gentle, non-intrusive therapy with
no manipulation or massage involved. You will remain fully clothed
throughout the treatment.
During treatment you may feel sensations of heat, coolness or
tingling either from the practitioners hands or different parts of
your body, or you may feel very little other than very relaxed.
Afterwards you may feel totally energized or a calm sense of overall
wellbeing. Reiki may also stir up buried emotions and some people may experience a headache or other minor symptoms which is a healing reaction. This very much depends on how your body responds
to the experience, and no two people react in the same way.
What can Reiki help with?
Reiki may help with a wide variety of both physical and emotional problems, including;
stress, depression, insomnia, anxiety and pain.
Reiki is now regularly used in a variety of settings from hospitals to hospices and care homes as a complementary therapy to promote
relaxation and aid the healing process.
